Choose a common aspect ratio without stretching the image.
This tool uses the largest centered area of your image that matches the selected ratio. It does not stretch or squash the picture.
Use 1:1 for square graphics, 4:5 for portrait posts, 9:16 for vertical stories and short-form video covers, and 16:9 for thumbnails and widescreen graphics.
When you crop an image, pixels outside the selected area are removed from the exported copy. That makes cropping the right choice when you need a new shape without stretching the subject.
For portraits, keep eyes and faces away from the very edge. For product images, leave enough breathing room that the object is not clipped by later interface overlays. For text graphics, keep important words inside a comfortable safe area.
If the destination requires a specific ratio such as 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 or 16:9, choose the composition at that ratio first. Then resize the cropped result to the required pixel dimensions. This produces a more predictable result than resizing first and cropping afterward.
